i am a new member to this forum and i am taking the toefl test on satuday.
can you help see this essay and see what i would scored
Many people believe that television programs are of no value for children.Do you agree?Why or why not?Provide reasons and examples to support your response
The brain of a child is that which can easily retain things,and watching some programmes from the television can make children exposed to certain fantasies,and immoral act.Therefore I agree that television programs are of no value to children for the following two reasons;
1 watching television programs can make children do unimaginable things.
2 watching adult programs can make them [perform immoral acts.
Children can do unimaginable things while watching television programs.Lets say a child watched a movie of super saving a kid that is falling from a 32 story building,.The child then goes and jump over the cliff hoping that super man will come and save him too.A child can easily learn things through the programs on TV and then imagine that it is real meanwhile is real meanwhile it is all false.
On the other hand,a child can commit immoral act after watching some programs from the TV.Lets take for example,a child that watches two people kissing on the screen,he sees it and doesn’t think anything is wrong with it after all ‘its on TV’.So there is nothing wrong with the act.He then goes and practice what ever he has watched from the TV.
Finally,a child that is below the age of 14 should not have anything doing close to the TV.If a child needs information,he should either ask the parents or read books to get that information.for a child to be decent and grow as a well trained child,it is the parent duty to decide what the child should do with his spare time not using it to watch adult movie or adult programs.
